OpenSea was the first, and that is why it’s the most popular NFT marketplace. We even made a guide for it! But now there are a lot of alternatives on the market. Here are five of the best ones if you want to try some new platforms, expand your audience, or just don’t want to be a part of the mainstream 🙂

Rarible

Probably, the most popular alternative for OpenSea, and this is also because it was the first alternative on the market.

Since its launching in 2020, Rarible has added multichain support (Ethereum, Solana, Polygon, etc.), released apps for iPhones and Android, and created its own token — RARI. You can get RARI weekly as a reward for trading NFTs on the platform.

For trading, Rarible also takes 1% fees from the buyer and 1% fees from the seller.

SuperRare

A perfect OpenSea alternative for those who want to sell as NFT their art: paintings, photos, collages, etc. “Instagram meets Christie’s” — that’s how SuperRare describes themselves.

They also say they are still in early access, so you must submit an application to present your artwork here. Each month, curators pick a small number of new artists. But even if you will not be chosen — you stay in the database till the full launch next year.

SuperRare takes a 15% commission from the seller for the first sale and pays a 10% royalty for secondary sales. Also, buyers pay 3% fees for every purchase.

LooksRare

While Rarible added its token as an additional feature, for LooksRare, rewards are a mission. They give LOOKS tokens not only for every sale and purchase but also for listings. Besides, they share 100% of trading fees with LOOKS stakers.

As for collections, here is presented the similar NFTs as on OpenSea.

For trading, LooksRare charges a 2% commission. For private sales, there are no fees at all.

X2Y2

A marketplace with the lowest commission — 0,5%. These fees are collected and then rewarded to X2Y2 stakers.

Creators of X2Y2 say that they tried to build an OpenSea alternative without known OpenSea’s problems. That’s why the platform allows:

  • to list multiple NFTs with one transaction;
  • monitor your sales in real-time;
  • to purchase multiple NFTs in one package;
  • check NFTs’ rarity without additional tools.

Foundation

This is the last and the least famous alternative for OpenSea. Still, it is an excellent place for artists who want to sell their pieces as NFTs.

The platform is very simple and doesn’t have any additional features. Unlike SuperRare, they also allow the creation of artists’ profiles without applications. The fees on Foundation are also lower — 5% for all purchases.
