Remilia Founder Alleges Hack Following Transfer of Ether and NFTs

Mar 18, 2024 at 09:32

Krishna Okhandiar, also known as Charlotte Fang, founder of Remilia and Milady, claims to have been the victim of a hack after significant amounts of Ether and NFTs were transferred to a wallet involved in asset liquidation.

Dumpster DAO initially flagged the incident, sharing a screenshot of Okhandiar’s statement, “I got drained,” along with a link to the receiving address connected to Remilia wallets.

Remilia, the DAO behind the Milady Maker NFT collection, has seen numerous linked NFTs, including NFTx staked ones, sold from the address in question. Additionally, it has transferred $1 million worth of Ether to another address and currently holds almost $1 million in Ether and various tokens.

Although the exact method of the alleged hack remains unclear, blockchain security firm PeckShield pointed out a prior transaction from the Remilia treasury wallet to the wallet implicated in the incident.

This isn’t the first time Okhandiar has faced such a situation. In September 2023, Fang revealed that a developer within the Milady ecosystem diverted around $1 million in generated fees from Remilia Corporation by taking control of three X accounts, including Miladymaker and Remilionaire.

Launched in 2021, Milady, an anime profile picture NFT collection designed by Fang, gained significant attention in May 2023 when Tesla CEO Elon Musk publicly endorsed it. This endorsement caused a surge in the floor price of a Milady NFT, rising from 3.8 ETH to 7.8 ETH.

The incident underscores the ongoing challenges of security breaches in the crypto industry, particularly concerning decentralized finance applications. According to a Dec. 28 report by Immunefi, crypto hacks and scams resulted in losses totaling $1.8 billion in 2023, with hacking accounting for over $65 million (97.54%) of stolen funds in February 2024 alone.
