Gala Games token drops 13% due to erased tweet about “The Rock” and Mark Wahlberg

Gala Games, a web3 entertainment company, caused a stir when they tweeted about upcoming film projects with A-list actors Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and Mark Wahlberg, resulting in a big boost for their token value. But, as quickly as the gains came, they seem to have vanished, leaving the company facing questions and the tweet deleted.

The deleted tweet

The initial tweet from Gala Games and a Discord message failed to mention that the film projects are documentaries or that the subjects of the documentaries are not the actors themselves, which might have caused confusion about Gala’s plans with these box office heavyweights.

“Out of respect to our partners at Seven Bucks (Dwayne Johnson) and Unrealistic Ideas (Mark Wahlberg), we removed a tweet that was a bit overzealous,” a Gala Games Discord administrator wrote on January 11, 2023 to Decrypt.

Gala’s partnership with “The Rock’s” Seven Bucks Productions to produce a feature-length documentary, “Four Down,” directed by Steven Cantor. “The Rock” will serve as the executive producer. Gala Film will be financing and releasing the documentary on their platform and also publishing exclusive behind-the-scenes content.

Gala’s relationship with Unrealistic Ideas is for a documentary film called “Caught Stealing,” as revealed in a November 2022 live stream with Unrealistic Ideas President and Partner Archie Gips. The film tells the story of a youth baseball team in 1963 and their coach who, while leading the team to produce MLB draft picks, also had a secret life as a bank robber.
