Two-time Oscar winner and legendary actor Anthony Hopkins wants to buy his first NFT. He has announced it on Twitter and has asked his 933,5 thousand followers and some of his fellow celebrities, such as Snoop Dogg, Jimmy Fallon, and Reese Witherspoon, for recommendations. To show his confidence in the new venture, The Silence of the Lambs star even adopted a new Ethereum nickname. It suits him!

It shouldn’t be a surprise that the actor is interested in NFTs. Last year, Anthony Hopkins was among the first Web3 adopters and released a high-tech thriller, Zero Contact, via the NFT film platform Vuele. It was filmed virtually via Zoom during the 2020 COVID-19 pandemic.

The actor has also changed his Twitter nickname to AHopkins.eth* — a domain name for a crypto wallet, so you probably can send money to him if you want.

*.eth — The Ethereum Name Service (ENS) is a lookup system that aims to make crypto wallet addresses much easier to remember.

“I’m astonished by all the great NFT artists. Jumping in to acquire my first piece, any recommendations?”, — said the actor.

To help buy his first NFT, Anthony Hopkins asked other famous people who were already aware of the new art form — TV host Jimmy Fallon, actress Reese Witherspoon, and rapper Snoop Dogg. The last one has recently announced launching a Bored Ape NFT-styled dessert restaurant.

No God, please, no!

Twitter users reacted in different ways to the news of the actor’s decision. Crypto critics mainly judged him and advised him “to stay away from NFTs and any cryptocurrency, for that matter” because “it’s not environmentally friendly, and the whole thing does look like a scam.”

“The recommendation is not to buy any NFTs. It’s a scam, and the whole ‘trend’ is finally dying out. So, it’s not the get-rich-quick scheme people think it is. You also don’t support any real artists when buying it because most if not all NFTs are AI-generated. NFTs are a scam”, — responded user Tormented once more.

NFT enthusiasts were glad to see “the older generation with an open mind participating in the modern technology, especially now when Ethereum will be incredibly green and sustainable after the merge in August.”

“Here’s me laughing at all the plebs throwing shade at anyone curious enough to step into the world of NFTs. Don’t worry, you all be utilizing NFT technology soon, likely without even realizing it”, — wrote Anthony Hopkins followers $thesasquatch.

“Yes, don’t embrace change or any progression of technology that aims to solve problems. Our downfall was electricity! Even further back! We should never have invented the wheel!” — responded another user.

Jimmy Fallon also answered, saying, “there are a bunch of great artists out there, and it’s a fun community in general. DM me”. So, probably, very soon we will be informed about the first actor’s purchase.
