Azuki is a 10,000-avatar collection NFT anime released on January 12, 2022. The NFT Azuki Collection was created by Chiru Labs, a Los Angeles-based start-up. Although the identities of the artist collective of four remains anonymized, the group of creators has a wide range of expertise in games, cryptocurrency, and the arts, all joining forces to bring a relatable brand into the metaverse.

In fact, Azuki NFTs project is on track to be the largest decentralized brand in the metaverse, built and owned by its community. Furthermore, when it traded at over 250,000ETH, it became the 6th largest total volume project in NFT market history. Despite the short-lived stumbles that involved its founders (which saw Azuki NFT Projects price drop dramatically to 9ETH), the project continues to innovate, providing ever-greater utility for its community members.

The collection Azuki NFT shared their roadmap prior to the launch, helping ensure immediate confidence in the project by parts of the NFT community. In addition to the utilities gained through the NFT, like exclusive Garden access, physical events, and more, Azuki has from the start indicated it is working towards a gamified metaverse.

As we know success begets more success in the NFT space, early success for the Azuki brand rapidly drove the projects valuation to the double-digits in ETH, sending the popularity of Azuki through the roof. In the weeks following the launch, the series would continue to generate approximately $300M of secondary sales volumes on a number of leading NFT markets. After months of consistent growth, which saw Azuki becoming one of the fastest growing projects in the NFT space, Azuki hit a brick wall as its creator was linked to a number of NFT projects that had gone bankrupt and were deemed to be a bit controversial.

The Azuki NFT Project features a collection of 10,000 anime-themed avatars which unlock exclusive benefits and 10,000 special perks. The Azuki NFT Collection is basically comprised of 10,000 anime-style images, with around 12 customizable features and 450 attributes for each avatar, including, background, neck, eyes, face, hair, mouth, ears, clothes, headgear, Offhand, and Special.

The Azuki NFTs grant members access to the Azuki Metaverse, The Garden, where the NFT drops, live events, streetwear collabs, and other events are displayed.

NFTs featuring Japanese-style silk jackets were distributed to Azuki PFP holders, who were eligible to trade in their physical jackets beginning on the 19th of July. The first physical-digital product from Azuki animes NFTs was launched in May 2022, and consisted of NFTs depicting Japanese-style silk jackets.

The Azuki NFTs became quite the popular subject within the cryptocurrency community, not only due to their anime-style aesthetic, but because it beat out some of the biggest names on the market for sales volumes soon after its release.

A watershed moment saw Azuki NFTs becoming the highest-demanded set at OpenSea, appealing to over 5,500 buyers and trading for a total of 168,000 ETH ($591M). On OpenSea, Azuki Beanz Collection had an initial price of 1.1 ETH ($1,688), with total trading volume of 63,300 ETH ($97 million), held by 7,000 wallets.

On 30th of March, the team sent out an airdrop of 20,000 something NFT for holders of Azuki, reinvigorating massive interest amongst speculators for both Azuki and 20. In addition to the Azuki NFTs, Azuki launched a second set called the “Beanz” in April 2022.

Azuki is one of the only NFT collections featuring avatars, which everybody believes did it all the right way. With there being so many NFT collections for PFPs in the space in early 2022, on first impressions, there was not a lot to set Azuki apart.

While it was [not so ]clear to see that Azuki and Clone X were still maintaining their post-mining hype, some of these anime-based NFT projects were cooling off, and we saw the prices for them drop dramatically on the exchanges. The lowest piece is hitting the sub-20ETH mark was partially because of speculation that holders of CloneX will get priority minting for Murakami Flowers, a forthcoming collection from Japanese artist Takashi Murakami.

Popular YouTuber celebrity Logan Paul started selling copies of NFT art through his collection 99 Original NFTs, which was earmarked to raise the price of an 0N1 Force NFT and prevent its price from dropping further. Mistakes were pointed out by other NFT collectors, who added that Azuki Collection was initially an offshoot of 0N1 Force, prior to becoming more popular. 0N1 Force has not publicly admitted to their mistakes, and the 0N1 Force NFT holders lost faith in the project in which they invested.

Such actions are extremely detrimental — particularly because 0N1 Force has promoted itself as a community-first project. Karafuru NFT, can be considered the biggest Indonesian NFT project so far, but Karafuru NFT does not want to limit itself only to the Virtual World. Karafuru NFT is a NFT project that was born out of the cooperation of the Museum of Toys, the Urban Sneaker Society, and Indonesian illustrator W. D. Willy, who launched 5,555 2D-styled NFTs, built around 12 characters, establishing Karafuru NFT as the 35th highest volume ever in the history of transactions in OpenSea, reaching over $100M total transactions.

In future, Karafuru NFT will be entering into cooperation with Hypebeast and Atmos Japan to release 3D variants of NFT via metaverse as art toys made of actual art.

To name some major things coming up, there are IRRL events, merchandise, a 3D version of the projects NFT, and actual, physical toys. Many owners are suggesting the NFTs could be NFT companions, like a collection of NFTs from Bored Ape Kennel Club.

Muri

With their vision being groundbreaking, it is easy to understand why MURI is dominating the NFT world in 2022, and they will continue doing so well past that point. Whether it is the MURI core team, a love for continual innovation, a passion for Anime within an NFT environment, or the community-driven mentality — MURI is doing something right. The MURI core group is creating its own anime and manga, which will feature stories that build upon the entire MURI ecosystem.

Once the MURI masterminds noticed the gap in the quality and innovation of the market for anime-themed NFTs currently out there, they got down to business. MURI is a Japan-inspired project which plans on launching a token that can be used within their ecosystem, publishing print and digital versions of the MURI Manga & Anime, physical toys, and a clothing range. Haus plans on building a whole ecosystem around MURI, releasing the token earned by MURI holders.

Each avatar created inherently boasts a Craftable Trait, that a possessor may trade for and create a physical version of. Holders of first-generation NFTs for Pixelmon-Generation 1 can earn in-game tokens and virtual plots of land through an airdrop. NFT holders are assigned virtual plots of land inside the City of Night, and are able to construct unique spaces for themselves.

Killer GF

Killer GF is 7,777 of a series of generative portraits art created by a former Riot Games artist, Zeronis, featuring more than 240 carefully designed features contrasting sweet, cosmetically attractive girlfriends/fiancés who just so happen to also be dangerous killers. The stunning artist, Zeronis, has a stellar portfolio that spans more than 10 years as Concept/Character Designer at Riot Games.

While the concept of buying and selling women has been criticized for an explicitly sexist message, the collections take inspiration from a long artistic history of portraying women. There is obviously also a market for NFT girls, as an increasing number are investing their cryptocurrency into the digital partners. Art and fashion are investing a lot into Web3 technologies, where a new generation is spending time mobile, playing games, and collecting digitally.

Renga

Artist DirtyRobot originally created a series called Seasons of Art, using the occult to tease out the Runga (NFT folks were eating it up!). Renga’s collection does not really have much utility, it is based around the artwork by artist DirtyRobot, and the rising prices of the floor. Currently, RENGA is made up of black boxes which were dropped in early Northern Hemisphere Summer (June 22, 2022) for holders of Art of Seasons NFTs, which were initially released in March at 0.08ETH.

Holders of the first batch of NFTs, holders of The Art of Seasons (TAOS) NFTs, were airedropped a single Black Box NFT free of charge. Now, only about two thousand boxes are left, while many others are buying up and burning RENGAs black boxes, to unlock the new characters. It is later revealed that the 10K black boxes are all available for burning, in return for the one-of-a-kind character developed by DirtyRobot, hence, the introduction of 10K handmade RENGA characters.

The concept of Black Boxes was rather uncommon in RENGAs highly touted NFTs Collection, never being made available to public mints. Black Box holders were given a chance to mint a random NFT with the properties RANGA, via the unique Burn-to-Mill mechanic. Each black box holder will have an opportunity to open their box (burn) and discover a character from the RENGA Universe (mint) via a burn-to-mint mechanism.

The RENGAs highly anticipated NFTs are designed so that each holder is able to become a part of a story, while the community behind them evolves, unlocking the mysteries behind each character. In the case of the much-hyped RENGA NFTs, a creative team and the community came together to create unique stories tied to each NFT.
