Manchester City, in collaboration with OKX, is introducing a novel NFT initiative, “Unseen City Shirts,” offering fans a chance to own limited-edition jerseys and unique matchday experiences.

The initiative marks the latest development in the ongoing partnership between Manchester City and OKX, allowing users to mint digital collectibles via the OKX app. The rarity of the NFTs determines the rewards, including redesigned football shirts adorned with hand-painted artwork inspired by the Lancashire rose and Manchester worker bee, crafted by artist Christian Jeffery.

OKX’s global chief marketing officer, Haider Rafique, details that the NFT rarity is algorithmically determined, with ultra-rare NFTs granting exclusive access to on-pitch experiences and match tickets, alongside the coveted limited-edition jersey.

Further, rare NFTs offer stadium tours, hospitality tickets, and an exclusive “The Roses and the Bees” design jersey. The minting process is free for OKX users on the OKX Marketplace.

Nuria Tarré, Man City’s chief marketing and fan experience officer, views the NFT launch as a strategic move to engage tech-savvy audiences and embrace digital ownership within the fan community. Tarré underscores the significance of Web3 technology in reshaping ownership dynamics.

Man City plans to further explore Web3 possibilities, building on its collaborations with OKX and exploring innovations across Web2 and metaverse platforms. Tarré highlights the club’s entry into Roblox in 2022 and expresses enthusiasm for the evolving landscape of technology and fan engagement.

OKX’s Rafique emphasizes the foundation laid over the past three years to enhance utility for sports fans and Web3 users, with the NFT initiative serving as a gateway to broader utility-based ecosystems. He underscores the importance of advancing product and technological infrastructure to support the evolving industry landscape.

The partnership between OKX and Manchester City, initiated in March 2022, has evolved significantly, culminating in OKX’s sponsorship as the club’s official training kit and sleeve partner for consecutive seasons, reflecting a commitment to mutual growth and innovation.
