Each battle on Spider Tanks features a specific map with its own special layout. Knowing the map and its openings allows players to shoot through certain terrain and use their special abilities effectively.

Spider Tanks arena maps experiment with a unique combination of environments, including a frozen tundra, a jungle, a lava filled cave filled with treasure and others.

You can customize or upgrade your tank body, weapons and special abilities/items in the Tank Garage. Your unique selection qualifies your overall strength ability, and is on display for you to make changes where necessary.

The game modes

Spider Tanks game modes will keep you coming back for more. Every mode is strategic, and challenging, yet, not too complicated to put you off.

Team Deathmatch: The team with the most kills wins. Spider Tanks lets you create killer combos with your team for guaranteed chaos.

Capture the Chicken: Why are chickens the ‘light-comedic touch’ in games these days? Well, in Spider Tanks, your team needs to capture more chickens than your opponents to be dubbed a ‘Spider Tanks Chicken Master.’ The chickens roam the arena and the aim is to capture as many as possible while battling with another team. All for the sake of points or in-game rewards.

Capture the flag: Beyond going after the flag, players must fight to protect the flag, for the longest time. It’s not just about how fast your tank is. A combined skill set of proper aim, tank abilities and strategy make this Spider Tanks mini-game a must play in the Spider Tanks game.

The gameplay

At first, the game was easy, as it always is in most games. I managed to join a team pretty quickly, and went from being the inefficient player, to the best of the bunch. You don’t have to stick to the same team always, although that is an option, especially while playing challenge or champion matches to grow in rank.

After lengthy back-and-forth battles, I became a pro, at times, being the last man standing in the team.

You can upgrade your tanks abilities and weapons which makes it more powerful. Handy in the heat of battle. With upgrades comes the need for better strategies.

Strategy is everything in Spider Tanks.

You and your team need to work together to outsmart and outgun the competition.

The teleportation ability is cool, but acquiring a powerful weapon is better. Customize your tank to be lighter for speed, and bigger isn’t always better.

The invisibility ability was rather annoying at times since it didn’t feel consistent. Either, the enemy team had great prediction capability or it wasn’t quick enough to avoid the enemy.

Honestly, you get lost in the game, and it’s not about how much money you get playing each level. Spider Tanks is a fun game — a great way to de-stress after a long day.

How can I make money on this?

If you do select the play-to-earn option in the game you will be required to connect a MetaMask wallet to play. 

Spider Tanks is essentially a win-to-earn game, dependent on your tank, weapons and time spent on gameplay. More is better. There are many ways to make money from Spider Tanks.

1.     To make the most money, aim to get an Ancient Tank which are the highest rated tanks on the pilot program, which gives you up to 4000 points per game.

This is about $6 per game. Right now, with my tank, I get about 100 points which is worth about $0.16. Same goes for having a Legendary Weapon. It does more damage for guaranteed wins. Each game is 5 minutes long, so in a couple of hours you could earn a decent amount of money.

2.     Buy and Migrate NFTs from Ethereum, then transfer to the Geary Network and use them to play the game to get more victory points that translate to more SILK tokens. All NFTs can be upgraded up to level 30. The more you upgrade the more you earn, the more the damage you do to your opponents.

2.     Spider Tanks is a free-to-play game, so if you don’t have NFTs, you simply go to the Garage and select ‘Pilot’ to get a random tank.

This random tank eventually becomes your “baby” as you upgrade and customize it to the ultimate weapon for gameplay, and eventually, a mintable NFT that you can trade on the marketplace.

Your random tank also taps you into the play-to-earn network to earn SILK tokens which are eligible for play to earn through victory points and rewards.

4.     Be a Baron. Fans are able to buy Land/Arenas/Maps of the Spider Tanks game. Through Land Management, players can battle on this land and if you own Land, you earn passive rewards in SILK tokens. Land and Nodes are now tradeable on the marketplace.
5.     Be a Pilot or Be a Captain. You can rent out your Spider Tank assets (especially the Spider Tanks NFTs) for a share of the profits made during gameplay. Many other games have adopted the same model like Sweet Clash from M3 Games.

This is a great way for players that want to get into any blockchain gaming ecosystem, but don’t really want to spend their money.

6.     Be a Fabricator. By owning a factory that creates the various weapons used during gameplay. The more parts and weapons you produce the more you earn.
7.     Be an Emperor. You can own a planet where all the maps are in the Spider Tanks ecosystem. A planet can have maps owned by other players, which means you get a share of their profits.
