“Crypto is so easy to manipulate”: how to pump an unknown coin to the sky just by buying a few billboards

UseFatMan from the Terra Research forum told the story of how his unnamed fella (let’s call him Steve) paid for the promotion of DOCK digital token via crypto shilling a shill is a person who publicly helps or gives credibility to a person or organization without disclosing that they have a close relationship with said person or organization video and billboard advertisements. The treasured purchase costs Steve $30k. And indeed, for the first few weeks, the ads began to appear in London, New York, and Amsterdam. Here’s what came out of it.

How it all began

According to FatMan’s last tweet Steve, who wasn’t part of the DOCK’s team, pumped a shitcoin a cryptocurrency with little to no value or a digital currency that has no immediate, discernible purpose on Binance by buying billboards and a BitBoy Crypto video. As FatMan said, the promotion of DOCK through crypto shill videos and billboards resulted in enormous growth in the token’s value.

After the next few days, Steve began explaining his strategy. According to the tweet, he was talking with BitBoy Crypto to buy a shill video from the YouTube video creator, worth $30K, and also planned to purchase billboards and ads across the world to advertise DOCK.

Obviously believing in his success, along the way, Steve published pictures of things like:

  • screenshots of his conversations with BitBoy’s advertising manager;
  • various other avenues he was using to shill and achieve his goal.

His faith increased when ads began appearing in London, New York, and Amsterdam over the next few days. In his thread, FatMan says that Steve sent him lots of lovely pictures to prove success.

This caused the coin’s value to rise dramatically after all the videos and billboard ads.

According to FatMan Terra, Steve’s ability to manipulate the market with less than $200K showed that investors should not trust influencers because “they make money by selling you hope.”

“I witnessed before my very eyes yet another example of how manipulated and easy to manipulate crypto can be,” said FatMan.

It’s worth noting that FatMan did not disclose how much was made from the “pump and dump” scheme. However, he also hinted that a man controlling billions could manipulate a larger coin.

However, like in the Cinderella fairy tale, when the carriage turned into a pumpkin at midnight, the value of DOCK went down one way or another. As of this writing, the current price is $0,018195 per DOCK. The token has been down 0.39% in the last 24 hours.
