Blankos is a party-style blockchain NFT-based video game that allows you to play with your friends (or strangers) in different, very cool, mini-games, within the game itself.
It’s the first ever 3D NFT game on the Epic Games Store. (Season 1 now out to play!)
This free-to-play, play-to-earn video game was developed by co-founders John Linden and Rudy Koch and built by the creative minds at Mythical Games and Third Kind Games. The game received a total funding of $120 million and is quickly gaining massive worldwide popularity.
To think that the initial concept of the game was a side hustle. It was first presented to corporate brands as a tech demo into the metaverse. Companies were to create their own mini-games within an ecosystem to increase brand awareness and engagement. Of course, this is a great idea for marketers to build brand presence in Web3. However, Blankos fans are grateful that the founders thought otherwise.
“What NFTs allow us to do is to bring the player into the economy so they can participate in the value that they bring to the game,” Koch said in an interview with Engadget.
What are Blankos?
They kind of look like animated Lego people.
During gameplay, your first ‘Blanko’ will be a red block-like character which you can later customize into an NFT on the EOSIO blockchain. The adorable ‘Blanko’ is free to use in any of the mini-games within the main game.
Blankos borrows a leaf (or two) from Fortnite, to give players custom characters made through collaborations with big brands and celebrities. Their collaborations include Nipsey Hussle’s Burberry Marathon clothing line, the EDM superstar Deadmau5, John-Paul Kaiser, Tara McPherson and Candie Bolton, just to mention a few, which is insane!
The Blankos online community has a large fanbase on discord with 154,000+ members. Very impressive.
Blankos NFTs
The Blankos marketplace is centralized and owned by Mythical Games. You can trade your custom Blanko plus all the extra accessories you get while playing the game on the Mythical Marketplace.
Blanko NFT prices start from as low as $8 dollars, but most range between $40 to $1000. They are categorized by their serial numbers, under “Rarity, Classes and Tiers”. A Blanko NFT with the number ‘one’ in its serial number means that it’s a rarity and in high demand, thus, expensive. An NFT can be priced as high as a whopping $250,000. Yikes!
Every time you select a Blanko on the marketplace, you can also see how many are minted or burned.
How to buy Blankos NFTs
There are two ways through which you can buy and own a Blanko NFT.
Bonus: You don’t need a wallet to purchase a Blanko NFT.
- Mythical marketplace: At the mythical.market website, you can use an Uphold account for cryptocurrency, a debit card, or fiat currency to trade, buy or sell Blanko NFTs. It’s a simple-to-use platform – simply sign up/log in, select the NFT you would like to purchase, click on buy, and complete payment.
Your new Blanko NFT will be transferred to your ‘Shelf’ within the gameplay, where you can view and unbox it. Alternatively, you could leave it unopened to gain a rarity, class or tier badge. This makes it more valuable than you initially bought it, so you can sell or trade it on the Mythical Marketplace.
- In-game purchase: All you need to access the Blankos Marketplace are the login credentials you used during game launch or download. You can buy an NFT from the ‘Store’ using Blanko Bucks that are purchased via a credit card, and ‘Moola’ (more payment methods are planned). Furthermore, participating in future events (play-to-win) may also grant you extra items or unlock new Blankos.

Blankos Block Party Gameplay
To get started, visit blankos.com and download the launcher. Then simply create a new mythical account if you haven’t already. An update may be required during installation. Hit ‘Play’ and just like that, you’re in.
Once you’re in the Blankos Ecosystem, your base character will be the adorable red Lego-like person. You can eventually style your Blanko or get a new character, by purchasing, earning (play-to-win) or trading your Blanko for new skins, (like the newly released Godzilla skin), accessories, jewelry and so much more.
Nonetheless, the ‘noob’ Blanko is still adorable.
Play Brawl!
Select the ‘Play Brawl’ button and you will be transported through some sort of sci-fi worm hole into the Junction. Here, you wait for more players to join before being transported to a mini-game.
The first mini-game was a racing game. Running through a green/grass environment with lava puddles to slow you down. I finished fourth. Not bad for a noob. Top nine players qualify for the next round, which is another mini-game.
Blankos has 3 mini-games available in the single-player mode: Shooters, Race and Vibe Collects. Vibes are in-game collectibles and are used to increase the skill of a Blanko.
The more mini-games you play, the better your skills get. You can even gain skills to defeat other players within the mini-games. The games are also short and sweet — It truly is tones of fun!
Moreover, the animation is top-notch and with sound effects borrowed from popular animated shows, like the battle cry of Jojo from Jojo’s Bizarre Adventures is something I was surprised yet amused to hear while playing the Vibes Collector game.
Your favorite emotes are also available in the navigation panel as you equip your Blanko for gameplay. Select a taunt, waves and so much more. The original Blanko comes with the wave and greetings that are universally understood.

Pimp your Blanko
To get wearables, and cheat codes for your Blankos, you need to keep playing the daily quests and complete the challenges (daily, weekly, and seasonal challenges) which will reward you with party pass points.
Every time you achieve a milestone like 31 stars or 35 stars, you’ll get access to certain items or NFTs. Not keen on earning stuff the hard way? Take the easy way out by buying a party pass for $25 and unlock all the rewards available to you at your level.
Make it worth your while and spend $0 by playing Blankos every day.
I haven’t spent a single penny, and I already have two NFTs. I can increase their skills and XP by simply playing more. When I got to level 3, I noticed that I had some ‘Moola’ to spend on the wearables and accessories. I got the basic gear of a true nerd. Can you guess what they are?
Blankos Game Styles
When you purchase a Blankos NFT from the Mythical Marketplace, you can choose the style of Blankos it can play: Tracer, Tanker, or Wrecker.
Haven’t purchased a Blanko myself, but according to blankos.com, the Tracer is fast and spins to perform damage to other Blankos.
The Tanker Style has traps and shields, while the Wrecker does damage to other Blankos by pounding them to the ground.
The modes of play are many, but Blanko Brawl is the most common – 2 teams of 16 players each battle each other in the various mini-games, and the last 8 battle against each other to crown a winner.
Blankos Block Party is available for download on Windows 10 and macOS only. We hope they release downloads for other versions as well, especially for mobile.
Is Blankos Block Party worth the hype? Spoiler, yes, it is.
