The world is sprinting towards the future on the road paved in bitcoin gold, and Mic Mann refuses to allow African people to fall behind in this race towards a better future inside the metaverse.

“Africarare will connect Africa to this booming arena of the global economy, stimulate growth and create multiple jobs such as digital designers, creators, and architects,” says Mic Mann, CEO of Africarare and Ubuntuland.

The architectural doppelganger of a traditional African village layout employs a circular enclosure of digital properties and virtual plots. The exciting part is that, in true metaverse spirit, the central area of the virtual domain will be reserved for genuinely African experience and as a place to celebrate and enjoy art, music, and Afro-centric experiences.

What is Ubuntuland?

The Ubuntuland virtual metaverse was the brainchild of Mann Made Media and debuted with their first virtual land sales in 2022. The team’s goal was to build the virtual world in an Afro-futuristic setting. This project was created as a collaboration between Africarare, Mann Made, and M&C Saatchi Abel to create a virtual stage to show off Africa’s creativity and innovative capabilities as a people.

The name is one that truly represents the spirit of Web3. “Ubuntu” is a word and a value system very close to the hearts of African people, specifically Southern African people. The term means “I am because we are” and echoes the idea that web3 and the projects built on top of its technological foundations are facilitated by the community that creates it. It is a humanity-centric ecosystem of technology, art, and community, all driven toward a better future for humanity.

“For us, it’s all about building a thriving engaged community and ecosystem in Ubuntuland as we develop this new metaverse. We are thrilled to be working with one of Africa and the world’s most talented creative agencies as we focus on unlocking Africa’s best talent and connecting Africa to the global digital economy,” says Mic Mann.

People entering the Ubuntuland use the $UBUNTU tokens to interact in the Ubuntuland metaverse. This can buy, build, and sell your digital assets in Africarare’s virtual utopia. Anyone who wishes to own land in Ubuntuland can customize their 3D domain, including using this digital plot for commercial uses. They are free to use the digital land to open up shops, rent it out to established brands or use the space for virtual experiences. People have even used the area for virtual online therapy rooms or Afro-centric film festivals. The opportunities are only limited by your imagination!

Why did Africarare create Ubuntuland?

Many questions why Africarare or anyone would invest REAL money into Fake land. These people can’t see the big picture. The truth is that the reasons to invest in a virtual land or digital assets are rooted in optimism for the future of the internet and humanity. This is what the creators of Ubuntuland understood and internalized when they built the African metaverse one pixel at a time.

Creating the virtual world does more than create a single digital platform; it opens the entire web3 space up for African people to explore and innovate in a way that directly impacts their community. Web3 is not an industry that exists in a vacuum. When you can access this industry as its overlaying technology, it creates an immediate increase in demand for technological creators. This creates jobs in Web3 and auxiliary industries like VR and AR technology. This is a visible gap between Africans and the global market. Inviting Africans, especially young Africans, to use Web3 meta spaces also breathes life into these complementary industries, creating a need for specialized creators in this space. While most people, even the ones that will one-day pioneer Africa’s spot in the metaverse, cannot understand how Web3 will serve them, Africarare and Mann Made truly understand why the metaverse is essential and how much Ubuntuland is going to help the African people and the continent as a whole.

Mann Made Media’s founder echoed this message when he said: “Our mission in Africa is the application of technology to educate, inspire and empower.” He has been in the VR industry for several years and was ready for the Metaverse. He said, “Now is the time to create an African metaverse. We cannot get left behind.”

This is the time for Africa to jump ahead of the technological revolution and use it to propel itself into exponential growth. This is one of the reasons that the African continent has one of the highest crypto adoption rates in the world. These crypto adopters share Ubuntuland’s vision for a more fantastic future for Africa and its people.

The Africarare partnerships with Ubuntuland

There are two key partnerships that the project has enjoyed since its debut. These collaborations were:

A. Nedbank:

Nedbank secured its spot in history as the first African bank to invest in the metaverse with its strategic partnership with Africarare’s Ubuntuland project.

“As Nedbank, we want to remain at the forefront of the technologies that will enable the next wave of digital business models, so we’re investing in web 3.0,” the Nedbank representative says.

B.  MTN:

Africarare has created the first Virtual reality metaverse for the African continent! MTN’s partnership with Africarare has made them the first African company to purchase virtual property in the metaverse.

Bernice Samuels, MTN’s Group Executive for Marketing, said, “This is an exciting moment for us as we lead businesses on the continent to enter the metaverse marketplace!”

The future of the African metaverse

There is a myth that Africa’s metaverse is too ambitious. This is due to misconceptions about the African continent and its people. Ubuntuland aims to remove this misconception from the global consciousness.

The internet available on the African continent is the most significant point of objection to Africa’s involvement in the African metaverse. The average speed of internet on the continent is 5,74 Mbps, and it is also the most expensive internet in the world. That said, many countries across Africa are now accessing 5G internet. This means that the continent is slowly becoming less of an issue, and the African continent will be able to maximize the potential of the metaverse.

Ubuntuland is not the only company with its eyes locked on the future of the metaverse in the context of the African community. Meta’s African programs lead says that augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) are core to the technological advancement of the continent. META will invest $50 million into the training program to support the XR upskilling of African youth. This will have a tremendously positive effect on the employability of African youth.

Nairobi’s Black Rhino VR and Lagos’s Ìmísí 3D are creating the technology that will support the metaverse on the African continent. These companies, especially Africarare, are pioneering Web3 technology for African people and creating youth opportunities.
