Peyton, aka big pey, is a blogger with a 26k+ followers on YouTube and almost 28k followers on Twitter. big pey mostly talks about Cardano, runs the Cardano stakepool Bloom and organizes Cardano events.
In his interview with buidlbee, big pey shares his thoughts about the current crypto market, when the crypto winter ends, and ways to earn on crypto.

Q: How are you positioning yourself in crypto now? What do you do?
A: I run Bloom (Cardano stakepool), I run big pey (Cardano YouTube), Rare Bloom (Cardano event), and Atrium (Center of Everything).

Q: When you first entered the industry, what expectations did you have? Were they met?
A: I expected this industry to focus significantly on decentralization and individual sovereignty. This expectation wasn’t met. This industry is trending towards KYC on the blockchain with centralized bank digital currencies.
Q: Did you lose on crypto winter? How much?
A: Well, I prepared for the crypto winter. When you purchase crypto, it’s best to diversify your risk by dollar cost averaging into the market. When you’ve made some money off of crypto, and you’re in a bull market, it’s best to dollar cost average out of the market.
I did lose a lot in perceived value. However, I didn’t lose any money I put in, and I am far in the green.
Q: What is the most important lesson you learned from crypto winter?
A: We are hosting Rare Bloom in October; it’s the largest Cardano event ever hosted, with 40+ projects, 1000+ retail, and 22 speakers. It’s taught me that you can do anything you put your mind to with hard work. We did this in a bear market.
Q: Due to the crypto winter – is the audience’s interest in the industry going down or up?
A: Going down.
Q: How long do you think the crypto winter will last?
A: I think the crypto winter will last until the Feds start printing money again.
About investing
Q: What is the safest way to make money from cryptocurrency?
A: The safest way to make money is dollar cost averaging into a few different decentralized and trusted assets over a 3–5 year period. This is the only way to make life-changing money other than starting a valuable business in crypto.
Q: What advice would you give to a newbie investor with $100 in their pocket?
A: The most important thing is to get your income up; if you don’t have a good core income, invest that money in yourself. Make yourself more valuable. $100 isn’t enough to invest unless you’re doing it at least weekly.
Q: What are your rules for investing?
A: I make my own decisions on where to invest based on community, tech, and market sentiment. I don’t listen to others’ advice and make decisions solely based on that.
Q: Will Bitcoin ever drop to zero?
A: No, there will always be someone in the world willing to pay something for it.
About blogging
Q: What does running a YouTube channel give you?
A: It gives me a reason to learn much more information than I usually would at a faster pace. The audience also teaches me about myself and crypto. It exposes me to an extensive network as well.
Q: How quickly did you manage to gain subscribers? Any tips on how to promote yourself?
A: It wasn’t quick; it’s consistency over time. Be valuable.
Q: How do you choose topics for your content?
A: Based on what I like and also what people are interested in.

A: Graham Stephen, CardanoWithPaul, MeetKevin, and a few more.

Q: If you could meet a bitcoin creator, what would you tell him?
A: Can you make Bitcoin a little faster, maybe add smart contracts? We could also move it to Proof of Stake, so the green U.S. government doesn’t kill it.
